I ran my very first 5k on March 17, 2013. Some dear friends invited me to join them in their "5k a month" resolution, and I was thrilled! I had always wanted to run a 5k; however, I had trouble finding someone to run with me and had never mustered up the courage to go it alone. (I have since gotten over that fear.... at least when it comes to running.) There were many surprises that day including: race day nerves, realization that "flat" roads don't seem so "flat" when you're running them, disgusting road kill, running equals bonding, and the runner's high. Although I am not fast by any means, I somehow won first place in my age group!!! (Another lesson learned: small, local races yield a better chance of placing in your division!!) That was the day I started running. Becoming a runner has been an incredible journey, and there have been many highs and lows. I am so very thankful for these sweet ladies who invited me to run and for all the runners along the way!
Just as I started running on that St. Patrick's Day two years ago, today is the day I start a new endeavor. I was inspired to start this blog mostly to share my adventures in running, but there will be many experiences and random ramblings along the way. Whatever it is you are wanting to start, pick a day and start it! It won't be perfect, but nothing ever is at the start.
