It's about that time again. Time to get back into the routines and schedules that rule our lives August to June. There is so much anticipation, excitement, and preparation happening now! I've only spent 3 days in my classroom this summer, but I'm feeling more ready every day and I am so excited to meet my new kiddos next week!!
I am finally on the same hallway as the rest of 2nd grade and 1st grade. I was thrilled during post-planning when we decided to take a Dr. Seuss theme for our classroom doors!!
I love, love, LOVE Dr. Seuss (I hope you all check out his newly discovered book "What Pet Should I Get" that was released today!), and I picked "The Lorax" as my theme! I have been inspired by this quote for a while now, and I hope that my kids understand just how important it is to care a whole awful lot. Not just about the environment (I'm not a complete nature nut), but about every part of life.
Ok, I've gotten deep for a moment. With a bit of help from my mom, the Silhouette queen, I am quite pleased with the final product!! My door at least is ready for Open House!!!
Another project I completed today is my Fun Friday Center chart to go along with my "new" classroom management system. The concept is, of course, not new or original, but it is new-to-me. My goal is to be more intentional in looking for (and rewarding) positive behaviors. Only time will tell how it will go, but for now I am prepared for whatever may come....
In the meantime, I plan to fully enjoy these last 3 days of summer - in other words, I'll be sleeping as long as I want, going to the bathroom whenever I want, and hopefully completing my personal summer projects!
