I love giving people gifts! It makes me so happy to be able to give and do for others. According to the 5 love languages theory, this would make gifts my love language, right?
As a teacher, I have received gifts in all shapes, sizes, smells, and stages of use. I've gotten everything from cut up scraps of paper to elaborately put together baskets of things that I like. I cherish every ounce of kindness that prompts a child to give something to me, because that child's gift is given out of love.
At open house tonight, I received a gift from a family that has touched me deeply (enough to be blogging instead of sleeping after my 13 hour workday 😊).
This beautiful bag was full of goodies and supplies for the new school year. As kind and exciting as that is, what has struck me most is the personalization. This family that had not even met me yet took the time not only to bring their supplies in a cute bag, but they had it monogrammed with my name making it even more special!
Not only that, they also included a sweet note and added an extra special touch of teacher love to the Expo markers! I am blown away by the thoughtfulness of this family!!
We teachers like to complain (and there is much to complain about), but I think we have even more to be thankful for. Whether it be a beautifully personalized bag of school supplies or a weed picked from the yard, it truly is the thought behind the gift that means the most!
